This beachy mosaic mixed media mirror is the perfect decor for that beach or lake front home. I made the mermaid and sea horses from molds using industrial strength plaster. I then soaked the pieces in cement sealer that, once absorbed, adds to the durability of the plaster and allows for easy and beautiful painting. Most of the sea shells I collected during my outings along the Gulf coast. The large fish at the bottom was cut from a ceramic tile. I used moss green crushed glass for sea weed, as well as amber glass pebbles. The background of the mirror is painted sea colors. The sides have small bits of mother of pearl, as does the edges around the mirror. This could also be used as a frame by simply replacing the mirror with a piece of glass. The back is painted teal and has a key hole hanger.
