Blue birds of happiness reflects my true love and admiration for these beautiful birds. The image delves into my memories when I was surrounded by these cheerful little birds frolicking in the habitats I made for them. Their morning trill was music to my ears as they would line up along the fence posts and wait to be hand fed meal worms. Oh how I loved each one of them!
This art is built on a framed wood canvas, first painting the background with metallic gold paint then adding blues, teal and a touch of yellow paints, then applying alcohol ink for depth. For the flowers I used rice paper and subtle scrapbook papers. The birds were cut from thicker gloss papers that added depth and realism to the painting. I then scattered real dried pressed flowers and butterflies flittering throughout the flowers. I covered the frame top and sides with washi, giving it a good coverage with sealer for protection.
